Pedro Piquet
Pedro Estácio Leão Piquet Souto Maior (born July 3, 1998 in Brasília ) is a Brazilian racing car driver . In 2014 and 2015 he won the Brazilian Formula 3 championship . In 2018 he starts in the GP3 series .
Career
Piquet began his motorsport career in karting in 2006 , where he remained active until 2013.
At the beginning of 2014 Piquet made his debut with M2 Competition in the Toyota Racing Series in formula racing . He left the championship after three events due to licensing problems. Then Piquet drove for Cesário F3 in the Brazilian Formula 3 championship . He won 12 of 16 races and was champion with 211 to 116 points ahead of Lukas Moraes . He also took part in one GT race each . Once in the Brazilian Mercedes-Benz Challenge, once as a guest starter in the Brazilian Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. Piquet also took part in a rallycross race. In 2015, Piquet completed his second season in the Brazilian Formula 3 championship. This time he won 14 of 16 races and prevailed in the championship with 213 to 118 points against his teammate Matheus Iorio . Piquet also competed in the Brazilian Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. With one win he reached 13th place in the drivers' championship. He also made two guest starts in the Porsche Supercup .
In 2016 , Piquet again took part in the Toyota Racing Series for M2 Competition at the beginning of the year. With two wins he finished fifth in the championship. Piquet then competed in the European Formula 3 championship for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2016 . He finished the season in 19th place overall. In 2017 Piquet will contest his second European Formula 3 championship together with Van Amersfoort Racing.
Personal
Piquet is the son of three-time Formula 1 world champion Nelson Piquet and the brother of Formula E champion Nelson Piquet jr.
