The Mike Pero Motorsport Park is a motorsport race 13 km away from Christchurch , New Zealand removed. From 2004 to 2013 the route was called Powerbuilt Raceway at Ruapuna Park and is also known as Ruapuna Park and Ruapuna Raceway . The longest variation of the route is 3.330 km long and runs counter-clockwise.
history
The Canterbury Car Club was founded in 1947 and held various racing events around Christchurch. After the club had gained members, it was decided to build its own racetrack. Ruapuna Park opened in 1963, had 4 turns and was 1 mile (1.609 km) long. In 1976 the start-finish straight was extended. In 1993 there was a major expansion of the racetrack. It was extended to 3.3 km, a control tower was built, the pit lane and the spectator stands were renovated and expanded and an electronic time measurement system was installed. The race track is currently provided by the FIA in the level 3 classified.
Naming rights
In 2013 Powerbuilt Tools announced that the company would not renew the naming rights to the route. Powerbuilt held the rights for a total of 10 years from 2003 to 2013. Mike Pero, a New Zealand company owner and motorcyclist, then acquired the naming rights for 3 years.
Route variants
The route includes several different configurations. The circuit basically consists in the molded Trioval Circuit A , which additionally through the dipper can be extended curve and the winding Circuit B . Both parts can be combined with one another in various ways. There is also a drag strip .
Events
The Mike Pero Motorsport Park is currently used only by regional events in New Zealand. The Toyota Racing Series was a guest on the course between 2015 and 2018. Furthermore, the regional Formula Ford , V8 and GT3 drives on the track.

Trivia
For the first time , the track can be driven in a computer game in the racing simulation Project CARS . The paid DLC Audi Ruapuna Park Track Expansion contains different variations of this racetrack.
