William "Will" Bratt (born April 13, 1988 in Banbury ) is a British racing driver . He became a champion in the Euroseries 3000 in 2009 . He competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2010 and 2011 .

Career

After three years in karting , Bratt switched to the T Cars Series in 2003 , a British racing series for racing drivers aged 14 to 17. After finishing fourth in his debut season, he won the championship title of this series in 2004. Bratt, who had also competed in the British Formula Renault winter championship in 2004 and 2005, then moved to British Formula Renault the following year, where he finished 15th overall. Bratt stayed in this championship for the next two years. After finishing eighth overall with a win in 2006, he won four races in 2007 and came third. In addition, Bratt was second in the autumn championship of the Formula Palmer Audi this year .

Although Bratt took part in two British Formula Renault races in 2008, his main focus was on the Spanish Formula 3 championship . With five podium finishes, he finished sixth in this championship. In 2009 Bratt switched to the Euroseries 3000 . With four wins he won the championship title of this series before Marco Bonanomi . The two title rivals were tied at the end of the season and had also won four races each. Ultimately, Bratt was champion because he had achieved a second place more than Bonanomi.

By winning the title, Bratt was given the opportunity to compete for Scuderia Coloni in the 2009/10 GP2 Asia Series season . At the end of the season he was 25th overall with no points. Then Bratt started in 2010 in the FIA Formula 2 Championship . With a second place as the best result, he ended the season in fifth place overall. In 2011 Bratt started again in Formula 2 and completed the first four events. He scored one victory and three more podium finishes. At the end of the season he was on the ninth championship course.

In 2012, Bratt switched to touring car racing and received a cockpit in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with Rob Austin Racing . He finished his debut season in 20th place. 2013 Bratt denied his second BTCC season for Rob Austin Racing and improved to 19th place in the championship. In addition, Bratt took part in a race in the Blancpain Endurance Series for United Autosports in 2013 .

After a one-year break from motorsport , Bratt returned to formula racing in 2015 . For Pons Racing he took part in a Formula Renault 3.5 race weekend . The engagement resulted from his contacts with Emilio de Villota jr. , who was team manager at Pons Racing and who knew Bratt from his time in the Spanish Formula 3 championship.
