Season report

Before the season started, there was a change in the field of drivers. 20 drivers who started in Formula 2 in 2009 did not take part in any Formula 2 races in 2010. The 2009 season champion, Andy Souček , first switched to Formula 1 as a test driver for Virgin Racing . However, he left his team during the season. Carlos Iaconelli and Edoardo Piscopo ( Auto GP ) as well as Mikhail Aljoschin ( World Series by Renault ) and Robert Wickens ( GP3 series ) occupied top positions in their new racing series. Seven drivers remained in Formula 2, including two winners from last year, Philipp Eng and Kazimieras Vasiliauskas . In the course of the season, 18 drivers made their debut in Formula 2. With Benjamin Bailly ( Formul'Academy Euro Series ) and Will Bratt (Euroseries 3000) two champions switched to Formula 2. A total of 25 drivers were used during the season.

The field of drivers for the 2010 season was made up of different age groups and nations. With Natalia Kowalska , another woman competed in Formula 2. The youngest driver was Ramón Piñeiro , who made his debut in the season finale at the age of 18. The season's oldest racing driver was Ajith Kumar . The 39-year-old Indian became famous as an actor in his homeland. With Parthiva Sureshwaren (30) and Ricardo Teixeira (28), drivers competed, some of whom had many years of motorsport experience. Despite his age, Plamen Kralev contested his first full season in formula racing at the age of 37.

The season was determined by two pilots - Jolyon Palmer , son of series organizer Jonathan Palmer , and Dean Stoneman . The two drivers won 11 of the 18 races together and won the title by a clear margin. Palmer, who, unlike his competitor, had already driven one season in Formula 2, took the lead in the drivers' championship at the first race and kept it for much of the season. Stoneman, who never lost contact with Palmer, managed to take the lead at the end of the season and won the championship title as the best newcomer. As a reward for winning the title, Stoneman will take part in Formula 1 test drives with the Williams team. In addition to the first two pilots, the third in the championship, Sergei Afanassjew , also received the FIA's super license, which entitles them to participate in a Formula 1 racing weekend. 14 racing drivers were able to finish a race on the podium and six racing drivers managed to decide a race for themselves. In addition to Stoneman and Palmer, Benjamin Bailly and Nicola de Marco won their first race in Formula 2.

Driver ranking

The first ten of the race got 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point (s) respectively.
