Tobias Hegewald
Tobias Hegewald (born August 3, 1989 in Neuwied ) is a German automobile racing driver . He competed in Formula 2 in 2011 .
Career
After Hegewald was active in kart racing between 1995 and 2004 , he switched to formula racing and drove in the German Formula BMW for two seasons . After finishing 20th in the 2005 season, he finished 13th overall in 2006. Hegewald also competed in four races each of the US Formula BMW in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 Hegewald switched to the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and finished 13th in the overall standings. In addition, Hegewald was active in the northern European Formula Renault , in which he won the runner-up title. In 2008 Hegewald stayed in the two series and improved to fifth place in the overall ranking in the Eurocup. In the Northern European Formula Renault he was third overall.
In the 2009 season , Hegewald competed in the revived Formula 2 . On the third race weekend in Spa-Francorchamps , Hegewald showed his potential and won both races starting from pole position and also drove the fastest race lap. At the end of the season he finished sixth overall. In addition, Hegewald started a Formula Renault 3.5 race weekend . In 2010 Hegewald switched to the newly founded GP3 series for the German racing team RSC Mücke Motorsport . Like his teammates, Hegewald also failed to attract attention in the GP3 series. He only got into the points twice and finished the season in 22nd place overall. His team came last in the team ranking. After the end of the GP3 season, he competed for Motopark Academy in a Formula 3 Euro Series race . He scored a point straight away and finished 16th in the overall ranking. In 2011 Hegewald returned to Formula 2. With two podium finishes, he remained without a win in the season and was sixth in the drivers' championship.
