GT4 European Cup
The GT4 European Series , until 2011 the GT4 European Cup, is a motorsport series for Gran Turismo vehicles.
history
GT4 European Cup
It was launched in 2007 by SRO Belgium after the SRO had established the FIA GT Championship and the FIA GT3 European Championship in previous years . The European Cup thus formed the inexpensive entry into the GT racing series initiated by the SRO and, in accordance with the sporting regulations, is mainly aimed at paid drivers , but professionals are not excluded. The championship title was initially only awarded to drivers, but since 2008 there has also been a team classification for the GT4 class. In the same year, another vehicle category was also advertised. Despite the measure, the number of starters rose only marginally. Due to insufficient demand, the GT4 European Cup 2012 was not held.
GT4 European Series
In 2013 the restart took place initially under the name Avon GT4 Trophy . The 2014 season was then the first season of the GT4 European Series with organizer Max Braams. To fill the starting field, the 2014 GT4 Series will drive together with the Italian Ginetta Cup. This support will have to be dispensed with for the 2015 season, but three new manufacturers can be found in the starting field.
2017: split into two series
In the 2017 season, two different GT4 series were held as the GT4 European Series : The GT4 European Series became the GT4 European Series Northern Cup , while the French GT Championship became the GT4 European Series Southern Cup .
Regulations
Until 2007, two races were held per race weekend. Three races have been held since the 2008 season. The first two take place over a distance of 25 minutes, the third over 50 minutes. In this third race, a pit stop must be completed, in which a driver change can take place, but is not mandatory.
Scoring
Points were awarded according to the following scheme:

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
placement | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4th | 5 | 6th | 7th | 8th | ||
Points | 10 | 8th | 6th | 5 | 4th | 3 | 2 | 1 |
For the drivers' championship of the 2015 season the 10 best results will be counted, for the team championship only the best vehicle of a team will be counted, so that a team with more than one registered vehicle does not receive any advantage. On a race weekend, two races are held with a duration of 50 minutes and a mandatory pit stop in which the driver has to be changed. Points are awarded according to the following scheme:
