FIA GT3 European Championship 2012

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2012 FIA GT3 European Championship was the seventh season of the FIA GT3 European Championship . Six events were held, each with two races. This resulted in a total of twelve races.

The season started on April 8th in Nogaro , the season finale was held on September 23rd at the Nürburgring .

Race calendar and results

The events in Nogaro , Zolder and Moscow were new to the racing calendar . Silverstone , Le Castellet and the Slovakiaring have been removed from the calendar . As in the previous year, the season finale was initially supposed to take place in Zandvoort , but after the schedule changes in the FIA GT1 World Championship , the race in Moscow was brought forward and the final held at the Nürburgring .

Thus, all races were held as part of the FIA GT1 World Championship . On the last two race weekends, the GT3 European Championship started together with the FIA GT1 World Championship. This measure was necessary due to the small number of starters in both championships.
