Gerhard Tweraser (born September 29, 1988 in Bad Ischl , Austria ) is an Austrian racing driver . In 2012 he competes in the ADAC GT Masters .

Career

Gerhard Tweraser came to motorsport at the age of 6 through his stepfather . In the same year he made his first experiences in karting . He started with national indoor kart races, in which he secured the title in his first year.

After several years of karting experience, Tweraser got into a monoposto for the first time in 2004 at the Lista junior formula . He finally spent his first year in formula racing in 2005 in Formula Lista junior. There he secured a victory in five races and a total of four podium places. In 2006 Tweraser stayed in the Lista junior formula. Starting for Neuhauser Racing , he finished each of the twelve races on the podium and won the championship with ten victories. In the same year he also competed in the Swiss Formula 3 championship . He won three races there and finally became runner-up.

In 2008 Tweraser switched to the German Formula 3 Cup and stayed with Neuhauser Racing. He won two races and finished the season as the best Austrian in eighth place in the championship. After taking a break in 2009, Tweraser competed in the ADAC Formula Masters for Neuhauser Racing in 2010 . He finished five races on the podium and finished fifth in the championship.

In 2011 Tweraser switched to touring car racing . This season he competes in the Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo .

Personal

After graduating from high school and a technical college , the Austrian completed vocational training as a car technician at Mercedes-Benz and worked in this profession for a total of five years. The 22-year-old now works in his father's company.
