The Lotus 2-Eleven is a sister model of the Lotus Elise built from April 2007 to mid-2011 .
The vehicle was developed by Lotus Sport, the motorsport division of Lotus Cars Ltd , and is primarily intended for amateur racing drivers and can be approved for use on public roads. It follows Colin Chapman's basic idea of "performance through lightweight". When empty, it weighs 670 kg and its 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder Toyota engine with Eaton M62 compressor and charge air cooling has an output of 188 kW (255 hp). The C64 six-speed gearbox known from the Lotus Exige is used for shifting . The power-to-weight ratio is on par with a Formula 1 racing car from the 1960s. The car has no roof and only a low windshield.
There is a street legal and a racetrack version. The former has front and rear lights, a catalytic converter, a simple rear wing and other equipment required for approval such as rearview mirrors. The racing version has an extended aerodynamic package in which the rear wing generates high downforce, a front spoiler. In addition, the racing version's racing bucket seat has been tested by the FIA . The vehicle is the first Lotus to have a multi-stage adjustable traction control system and a limited slip differential on the rear axle. A 2-piston AP Racing brake system is used at the front, and single-piston Brembo calipers at the rear. The brake disc diameter is 288 mm at the front and rear. The brake system works with a 4-channel anti-lock braking system that has been improved by Lotus . The chassis is equipped with two-way adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers and has an adjustable stabilizer at the front. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 seconds and the factory specifies a top speed of 241 km / h. The 2-Eleven costs around 49,000 euros.
The smallest model ( entry level ) of the 2-Eleven is powered by the 1.8-liter Toyota 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 141 kW (192 hp). In the basic version, the 720-kilogram sports car reaches a top speed of 225 km / h. The sprint to 100 km / h takes 4.5 seconds. To reduce this time by 0.5 seconds, you can order the Supercharger package, which contains the more powerful engine (255 hp). This enables a top speed of 241 km / h. A sports package with sports suspension, larger brake discs and seven-spoke wheels is also available. A rear wing made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic and a wider front spoiler are available in the Aero Pack . Additional packages are also available.
The successor Lotus 3-Eleven was offered from March 2016 to summer 2018.
