Henri Karjalainen

Henri Mikael Karjalainen (born February 19, 1986 ) is a Finnish racing driver .

Career

In 2000 Karjalainen started his motorsport career in karting , which he practiced until 2003. In the following two years Karjalainen was active in the German Formula BMW and scored a total of five points. In 2006 the Finn moved to Asia and started both the Asian Formula 3 and the Asian Formula Renault Championship, in which he finished fourth overall with a race win. In 2007 Karjalainen stayed in the Asian Formula 3 and secured the runner-up title with five wins in 13 races. After his compatriot Markus Niemelä sustained a shoulder injury, Karjalainen was allowed to start as a substitute in Istanbul for BCN Competición . In 2008 Karjalainen moved to North America for Formula Atlantic and was 17th in the overall standings.

In 2009 Karjalainen started in the revived Formula 2 and finished 15th overall at the end of the season. He also took part in several races of various Formula Renault championships and won a race in the Finnish Formula Renault.
