Ricardo Teixeira (born August 2, 1982 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese - Angolan racing car driver .

Career

Teixeira began his motorsport career in 1999 in karting , which he practiced until 2001. At the same time, he started in the Iberian Formula BMW in 2001 . From 2002 to 2004 Teixeira did not take part in any races. In 2005 Teixeira returned to motorsport and competed in the national class of the British Formula 3 championship . Starting for Carlin Motorsport , Teixeira finished ninth in the standings at the end of the season. In the following season, Teixeira remained in the national class of the British Formula 3 Championship and finished seventh in the final standings. In 2007 Teixeira moved to the international class of the British Formula 3 championship, but he didn't score points in any race. In addition, he started two races in the German Formula 3 and remained without points in this series. In 2008 Teixeira stayed in the British Formula 3 Championship and was 20th in the overall standings.

At the beginning of 2009, Teixeira took part in test drives for Trident Racing in the GP2 series and took last place on all three test days. Nevertheless, he was signed by Trident Racing for the last two race weekends of the GP2 Asia series season 2008/2009 and the GP2 series in 2009 . In the main series, Teixeira, whose best result was 14th place, didn't get any points. In 2010 the racing driver competed in Formula 2 . He finished the season in 16th place overall.

In 2011 Teixeira was a Formula 1 test driver for Team Lotus . In 2012 Teixeira returned to the GP2 series. He was given a cockpit at Rapax . He did not take part in an event for health reasons. While his team mate Tom Dillmann won a race, a 13th place was Teixeira's best result. At the end of the season he was in 29th place without any points. In 2013 Teixeira was initially without a cockpit. In July, he returned to Trident Racing for two events in the GP2 series. He was again without points and was 34th overall.

His last race so far was in 2017 in the FRD LMP3 Series .

Teixeira mostly competes with an Angolan racing license. In the GP2 Asia and GP2 series , however, he started with a Portuguese racing license.
