Burlada – Burlata ( Spanish / Basque ) is a Spanish municipality in the autonomous region of Navarra (Comunidad Foral de Navarra). The place lies in the Pamplona Depression and belongs to the extended urban area of the Navarre capital.
history
Burlada has been occupied since the time of the kings of Navarre ; H. from the 10th century. The kings owned a palace here and used it for recreation. The palace, which was later destroyed, had private access to the Romanesque church of the place, which also no longer exists (destroyed in the middle of the 20th century). Another indication of the importance of the place is the Romanesque bridge over the Río Arga .
Attractions
- Romanesque Bridge (Puente de Burlada):
Medieval bridge made of six round arches. Because of the many reconstructions, it is difficult to specify the construction time.
- City palaces (Palacetes de Burlada): At the beginning of the 20th century, various palaces were built along the main street ( Calle Mayor ) of the town. The most important is the Palacio Uranga, which is surrounded by a park.
- Church of St. Johannes (Iglesia de San Juan): The first church was in today's Plaza San Juan, today occupied by the Casa Consistorial. The construction of the new church began on June 24, 1952, on the occasion of the city's St. John's Festival. It was consecrated on October 17, 1954 and was the project of the architect Javier Yárnoz. The floor plan is a Latin cross , the altarpiece is neoclassical and comes from the Pamplona Cathedral, the furniture was brought together from various Navarre locations.
- Parish Church of St. Blasius (Parroquia de San Blás): Due to the growth of the place, a new parish church became necessary, which was taken over by the community on June 29, 1970. It was dedicated to Santa Maria Soledad Torres Acosta , the founder of a women's congregation dedicated to nursing.
