Terradillos de los Templarios is a place on the Camino de Santiago in the province of Palencia in the autonomous community of Castile and León . He belongs to the municipality of Lagartos .
geography
The village is located in the Meseta on a small elevation, which earned it the synonymous name Terradillos.
history
In the 5th century there is said to have been a small Roman settlement at this point of no great historical value. In the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Knights Templar , who also maintained a pilgrim hospice near the village under the name of St. John in the 12th century . The Way of St. James itself is said not to have touched the village, but rather ran 700 m south between two no longer existing settlements.
Attractions
- Peter's Church (Iglesia parroquial de San Pedro) with a Gothic figure of Christ and a simple reredos from the previous church. The seated figure of the church patron was transferred to the Museo Diocesano de Palencia.
