Espinosa del Camino is a place on the Way of St. James in the province of Burgos in the autonomous community of Castile and León .
Attractions
- Parish Church of the Assumption (Iglesia de la Asunción), in the Renaissance style . From 1544 a main chapel (Capilla Mayor) was added by Juan de Landeras and Juan de Carasa. The chapel has a square plan and a star vault and cost 40,000 maravedíes .
- Rural architecture. With some old half-timbered houses, Espinosa has very good examples of the rural architecture of this zone, which has become rare.
- Ruins of the Monastery of St. Felix (Monasterio des San Felices) Between the village and Villafranca Montes de Oca, on the edge of the Camino de Santiago, there is a decaying apse , the last remaining remnant of the Monastery of San Felix. According to tradition, Count Diego Rodríguez Porcelos , founder of the city of Burgos , was buried here. In 1409 the Mozarabic community was annexed to the monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla .
