Zuñeda is a village with only 56 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Comarca La Bureba in the east of the province of Burgos within the autonomous community of Castile-León in Spain .
Location and climate
The place Zuñeda at the confluence of several streams (arroyos) at an altitude of about 725 m . The provincial capital Burgos is about 56 km (driving distance) in a south-westerly direction. The places worth seeing Briviesca and Pancorbo are approx. 14 km southwest and 15 km northeast respectively. The climate is temperate to warm; The rain, which is abundant by Spanish standards (approx. 705 mm / year) falls - with the exception of the rather dry summer months - over the year.

history
It is believed that the history of the place goes back to the 9th century. The origins could be related to a Roman villa, which was located in the municipality on the former Roman road Aquitaine - Finisterre . The name Zuñeda, as we use it today, can be read for the first time on a parchment in the Benedictine monastery of San Pedro de Cardeña on May 19, 1085.
Attractions
- The town gate Torreón de influencia mudéja, from which towers and battlements are still preserved, belongs to the townscape . It dates from the 16th century.
- To the east is the church of San Andrés from the 17th century. The gate has three floors inside, which are separated by wooden beams. Access to the tower was through a door in the southeast and another one on the north side. The former is badly damaged.
