Bugedo is a place and a municipality (municipio) with only 186 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the east of the province of Burgos in the autonomous community of Castile and León .
Location and climate
Bugedo is about 4 km (as the crow flies) southwest of the Ebro and thus also the border with the Basque Country or just 77 km (driving distance) northeast of the provincial capital Burgos at an altitude of about 580 m . The next larger city is Miranda de Ebro (approx. 10 km northeast). The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 720 mm / year) falls over the year.

The mechanization of agriculture and the abandonment of small farms have led to a lack of jobs and a migration of a large part of the population to the cities since the 1960s ( rural exodus ).
economy
The region has been shaped almost exclusively by agriculture for centuries; Animal husbandry is of great importance . Tourism (rental of holiday apartments) is also playing an increasingly important role.
history
Finds from the Celtic , Roman , Visigothic and even from the Islamic - Moorish period have not yet been made in the municipality. It is believed that the foundation of the town is related to the made in the mid-12th century founding of about 1 km southwest of the village located Norbertine - monastery Bujedo de Candepajares .

- The local parish church of Santa María dates from the late 15th century, but there is evidence of a previous building.
- Surroundings
- The ruins of a telegraph tower built in the 19th century are less significant.
- The aforementioned monastery of Santa María de Bujedo de Candepajares only has a few Romanesque parts. Most of the buildings are the result of a large-scale renovation in the 18th century.
