The mechanization of agriculture and the abandonment of small farms have led to a loss of jobs since the middle of the 20th century and, as a result, to a significant decline in the number of inhabitants.
economy
The inhabitants of the rural community live mainly from agriculture (agriculture and cattle breeding). Since the 1960s, the summer rental of holiday homes (casas rurales) has also played a certain economic role.
history
Celtic , Roman , Visigoth and even Moorish traces are missing. The place is after the reconquest ( reconquista ) of the Duero limit documented by the Christians in 1037 for the first time; since the end of the 12th century he belonged to the manor (señorio) of the Cistercian monastery of San Pedro de Gumiel, about 12 km south .
Attractions
The only attraction of the place is the originally Romanesque , but rebuilt in the Renaissance , Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción with its crossing tower , which is also elevated by a - later added - transverse bell gable (espadaña) . The external staircase leading up to the middle floor and thus to the bell house of the tower is also a later addition. The various console figures below the apse eaves are interesting . The south portal shows clear Renaissance forms. The nave (nave) has a baptismal font (pila) from the previous church.
