economy

history
Celtic , Roman , Visigoth and even Islamic-Moorish traces have not yet been discovered in the municipality. The reconquest ( reconquista ) by the Christians took place at the end of the 9th and beginning of the 10th century. The place experienced a certain boom in the Middle Ages due to the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela . In the 14th century Peter I of Castile gave the place to his faithful Ortiz de Zúñiga, whose descendants still exercised the manorial rule (señorio) over the place until the 19th century .
