  • The Santa Clara Monastery was founded in 1503 by De Arellano and his wife Juana de Zúñiga, Counts of Aguilar and Lords of Camero. The first nuns to inhabit it came from Tordesillas, the first abbess came from the Arellano family. In 2001 the monastery was closed for lack of children.
Parish Church of San Martín
High altar of the parish church

Construction of the church began in June 1545 with the purchase of land and a house by the cathedral chapter of Entrena. The property was purchased for 13,500 maravedies by Francisco Corral, a scribe to the king. The house belonged to the couple Francisco de Nalda and Beatriz González, who sold it for 6,000 maravedies. Originally the church was called Santa Maria La Nueva . It only got its current name much later. Until the 18th century the church was expanded and rebuilt again and again.

San Martin is a hall church divided into four sections . Between the sections, which are closed at the top by star vaults , there are internal buttresses that also form chapels. This construction results in a smooth outer facade. The entire church is made of ashlar .

The entrances are in the second section of the church. The northern entrance is in the form of a round arch, while the southern one is reminiscent of a classic triumphal arch. There are a few windows in the entire facade.

The high altar in late baroque style is remarkable. The builders are José de San Juan y Martín, Juan de Peralta and Juan Zapater Martínez in the period from 1702 to 1709.

The church has been on the list of cultural monuments of the Rioja region since 1984.
