Church of St. Jacob, Boente

Boente is a place on the Way of St. James in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous region of Galicia in Spain . Administratively it is dependent on Arzúa , other districts are Boente de Arriba (north) and Boente de Abaixo (south).

The parish church (Iglesia de Santiago Apostol) is dedicated to the Apostle Jacob .

Bravo Lozano suspects whether the election of the church patron and the mention by Aimeric Picaud in Jacob's book , that Boente must have been an important place on Galician soil for the pilgrimage to St. James .

Sights are the parish church with a beautiful depiction of Jacob in a sitting position (apostol sedente) and the restored Saleta fountain with a wayside cross (cruceiro).
