Santa Irene is a hamlet on the Camino de Santiago in the A Coruña province of the Autonomous Community of Galicia , administratively it is dependent on the municipality of O Pino .

The only attraction is a chapel from the 18th century, consecrated to St. Irene of Portugal . Tradition has it that the saint lived in a virgin monastery and was assassinated by the hand of a murderer whom a rejected admirer had commissioned.
