San Xulián do Camiño (also San Xiao do Camiño or San Julián del Camino) is a place on the edge of the Camino de Santiago . It is located at 480 m altitude in the Spanish province of Lugo in the autonomous community of Galicia , administratively it belongs to Palas de Rei .
The parish church of the village is a Romanesque church from the 12th century, dedicated to St. Julian is consecrated. This dedication attests to the long tradition of veneration of a saint whose historical profile is as unknown as it is dubious. According to the Legenda aurea of the Italian Jacobus de Voragine , Julian was a noble soldier who mistakenly killed his parents. As atonement, he is said to have lodged Jakobspilger with his wife Adela in a hospice until an angel revealed divine forgiveness to him. Another testimony to the popularity of the saint in this area is the name of the river Ruxián (= Río Xulián).
