Ribadiso is a place on the Way of St. James in the province of A Coruña of the Autonomous Community of Galicia . Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Arzua .
The place is a scattered settlement characterized by the livestock industry . That means, with a small population (9 Ew. / 2011) there is a relatively large territorial expansion and a division into three parts with localized names:
- Ribadiso de Baixo (Lower R.),
- R. de Riba (upper right) and
- R. de Carretera (R. on the country road).
For Ribadiso de Baixo the height is given as 300 m .
history
The relevance that the place had for the pilgrimage to St. James , and that it has recently again, can be seen from the fact that the San Antón de Ponte de Ribadiso pilgrimage hostel was here in the 15th century . It was right next to an old stone bridge over the Río Iso from the 14th century. The old buildings were restored in the 1990s and now serve as a pilgrimage hostel again.
