Lorca ( Basque Lorka ) is a village on the Camino de Santiago French Way in the Spanish region of Navarra , administratively it belongs to the municipality Yerri .

history

Evidence of the history of the village can be found in the collection of documents of the monastery of Roncesvalles , where the village, its church of San Salvador and the hospice subordinate to the monastery of Roncesvalles are mentioned several times. Another hospice is said to have been between Lorca and Villatuerta, the exact location is not known.
In Jacob's book , Picaud warns of the poisonous water of the Rio Salado with a story that is said to have happened on the two-arched medieval bridge shortly before Lorca: Two Navarreese lied to him sharpening the knife that the river's water was drinkable. The horses soaked with it would have died immediately and would have been skinned by the Navarres.

Attractions

The originally Romanesque Iglesia de San Salvador (Church of the Redeemer) was built in the second half of the 12th century and changed significantly in the following centuries through renovations and extensions. The portal and tower were built in the 20th century. Inside the church has one nave and is supported by a barrel vault of four Jochen covered, the transverse arches resting on fighters who in double pilaster pass. The semicircular apse is covered by a spherical vault.

Outside, the precisely crafted cuboids of the masonry are noteworthy, as are the services that structure the apse in three ways. Small windows that used to exist are now closed. The architectural decoration (e.g. on capitals) is badly damaged, human heads can be guessed, as well as foliage and figures.
