Villarmentero de Campos is a place on the Camino de Santiago in the province of Palencia in the Autonomous Community of Castile and León .

history

The name of the place refers to the "Campi Gothorum" ( Gothic fields) of the Chronica Albeldense , the first part of the word is the polished name of an "Armentarius", which is mentioned in medieval documents with regard to the repopulation. According to a local legend, the relics of St. Martin, necessary for the founding of the church, are said to have come to the village on a mule.
