Aguilar de Campoo is a Spanish municipality (municipio) in the province of Palencia of the autonomous community of Castile-Leon at 892  msnm . It has an area of ​​237 km², 6,744 inhabitants (2019) and a population density of 29 inhabitants per km².

location

The city is located 334 kilometers north of Madrid on the Aguilar reservoir on the A67 motorway . Aguilar de Campoo is a stop on the northern route of the Camino de Santiago .

Alfonso X of Castile declared Villa Realenga (royal city) in 1255 . She kept this privilege until 1332.
