Lavacolla is a small town on the Camino de Santiago in the A Coruña province of the Autonomous Community of Galicia . Administratively it is dependent on Santiago de Compostela .
The historical importance of the place is closely connected to the Way of St. James: here the pilgrims had to clean themselves before they moved to Santiago, Aimeric Picaud mentions the place in the Book of St. James as Lavamentula .
