Santa Catalina de Somoza is a small town on the Camino de Santiago in the province of León in the Autonomous Community of Castile-León , administratively it is dependent on Astorga .
The place name refers on the one hand to St. Catherine , on the other hand to the geographical location: Somoza , the former name of Maragatería , was cut from sub montia (below the mountain, here Monte Irago) .
