Milagro is a place and a municipality (municipio) with 3,416 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the autonomous community of Navarre in the north of Spain .
Location and climate
The place Milagro is located on a hill above the Río Aragón at a height of approx. 300 m and is approx. 78 km (driving distance) in a southerly direction from the regional capital Pamplona . The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 555 mm / year) falls over the year.

history
Celtic , Roman and Visigoth traces have not yet been discovered, although an old place name (Ergavia) is known, which is associated with Milagro. In the 8th century Arab-Moorish armies advanced far into the north of the Iberian Peninsula ; the Moors named the prominent hill Sajrat Qays and built a fortress there. At the end of the 11th century, Peter I of Aragón (r. 1094–1104) attempted to recapture ( reconquista ) the strategically important place and its castle, near which he built a watchtower, but only King Alfonso II was around Successful year 1165 - in the process he destroyed the castle and town, which were gradually rebuilt. In the 1170s the area was disputed between the kingdoms of Castile and Aragón .
Attractions
- Only sparse remains of the old Peter I Castle have survived.
