Igúzquiza is a Spanish town and municipality in the autonomous community of Navarra near Estella and about 50 kilometers southwest of Pamplona . The association community consists of four places with their own local representative ( Concejo ): Igúzquiza, Azqueta , Labeaga and Urbiola . The town hall with the municipal administration and the seat of the mayor is located in Azqueta.

history
The San Esteban de Monjardín Castle, built in the 11th century, belonged to the Pamplona diocese. Igúzquiza was first mentioned in writing in 1185, when it was donated to the Irache monastery . In 1238 the place fell into the possession of King Theobald II.
The lawyer and statistician Pascual Madoz wrote about the village in 1847 in his geographical and historical inventory of Spain - healthy and mild climate, but windy. The place has 40 houses and a school for 22 boys and 16 girls. In the medium-sized town, all kinds of grain are grown, merino sheep and goats are raised, hares, partridges and pigeons are hunted and trout is angled. Population: 28 farms, 137 souls.
