Julian Theobald

Julian Theobald (born November 11, 1984 in Giessen ) is a German racing driver . He competed in several Formula 2 races in 2010 and 2011 . His younger brother Johannes Theobald is also a racing driver.

Career

Theobald began his motorsport career in karting in 1995 , where he was active until 2001. In 2002 he moved to the Formula racing and went two years in the Formula König on. After finishing 23rd in his debut season, he finished eleventh in 2003. In 2004 he started in the German Formula Renault and at the end of the season finished 28th in the overall standings.

In 2005 he switched to the German Formula 3 Cup and finished the season in eleventh place overall. In 2006 he competed in the Trophy classification of the Formula 3 Euro Series and won the classification with six victories. He's been on the podium in every race he's competed in. In 2007 he switched to Formula Renault 3.5 and started as a replacement for Jaap van Lagen for EuroInternational for a total of eight races of the season. His brother Johannes was his teammate in two races. He finished 36th overall at the end of the season. In 2008 he took part in the first two Formula Renault 3.5 racing weekends for Fortec Motorsport and was then replaced by Fairuz Fauzy . In the overall ranking he was 33.

After a one-year break, he returned to motorsport in the middle of the 2010 season and competed in the FIA Formula 2 championship . He started on three race weekends and finished 13th as the best result without points. In 2011 Julian Theobald competed in Formula 2 with his brother Johannes. Julian Theobald started six of eight events. With a sixth place as the best result, he finished the season in 19th place in the drivers' championship.

Personal

Theobald studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and is currently working as a purchasing manager at Porsche AG .
