The 2008/09 GP2 Asia Series season was the second season of the GP2 Asia Series . It began on October 18, 2008 at the Shanghai International Circuit and ends on April 19, 2009 at the Bahrain International Circuit . On the last race weekend, the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi secured the championship title of this season. His racing team DAMS won the team championship.

On December 17, 2008, the organizers announced that the fourth event of the season would not take place in Dubai as planned, but on February 8 and 9, 2009 at the Losail Circuit in Qatar . This was the first night race under floodlights in GP2 history.

Rating

Point system

In the main race (HAU) the first eight of the race got 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 point (s). In the sprint race (SPR), the first six of the race received 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 point (s). In addition, the winner of the qualifying, who started from pole position in the main race, received two points. The driver who achieved the fastest lap of the first ten classified drivers also received a point.
