Hiroki Yoshimoto ( Japanese 吉 本 大樹 , Yoshimoto Hiroki ; born September 2, 1980 in Osaka ) is a Japanese racing driver and singer of the rock band doa . Hiroki is his racing driver's name, as a musician he uses the identical Daiki.

Racing

In the 2008 season he drove in the GP2 Asia Series for the Meritus Racing team .

Yoshimoto is the only rider in the GP2 series to have driven the majority of his career before GP2 in Asia . His career began in 1999 in the Japanese Formula Junior 1600. In 2000 he switched to the Japanese Formula Toyota and in the same year also drove in the Korean F1800. His move to Japanese Formula 3 in 2001 was the reward for all his hard work, even though he only drove 2 races in this series.

In 2002 he enjoyed a full season in Japanese Formula 3. He stayed there in 2003, before moving to the GT series in 2004. In the same year he also drove some races in the Formula Nissan World Series with Team Gabord.

In 2005 and 2006 he drove in the GP2 series as a driver for the BCN Competición team . In the overall ranking, he finished 15th (2005) and 14th (2006) respectively. In 2007 he drove for the 5Zigen team in Formula Nippon and V6 in Formula Asia. In 2008 he drove for the Meritus Racing team in the GP2 Asia series and finished 10th in the drivers' championship. For the GP2 Asia Series season 2008/2009 Yoshimoto was signed by BCN Competición. With the sale of the team after the first race weekend, his engagement ended earlier than expected.
