Mika Mäki
Mika Mäki (born February 27, 1988 in Pirkkala , Finland ) is a Finnish racing driver .
Career
In 1998 Mäki began his motorsport career in karting . In 2005 he switched to formula racing and started in the German Formula BMW . In his first season he finished twelfth in the overall standings. In 2006 he drove again in the German Formula BMW and was runner-up behind Christian Vietoris . In 2007 Mäki switched to the Italian Formula Renault and was instant champion. He also took part in the Formula Renault Eurocup and ended up ninth in the overall standings. In both series he drove for the Epsilon Red Bull Team . From 2007 to 2009 Mäki was supported by Red Bull .
In 2008 Mäki drove for Mücke Motorsport for the first time in the Formula 3 Euro Series . His teammates are his former Formula BMW rivals Christian Vietoris and Erik Janiš . Ready in his first race at Hockenheim, he celebrated his first victory. This was followed by another win in Mugello . The young Finn finished fifth in the overall standings at the end of the season and came second in the rookie standings. In autumn, Mäki completed several GP2 test drives for Arden International and then took part in the GP2 Asia race in Shanghai . Although Mäki was better placed than his team mate Luiz Razia after this race weekend , he was replaced by Renger van der Zande . In 2009 , Mäki contested his second season in the Formula 3 Euro Series as a driver of the Signature Plus team and could not improve on his debut season. With a win in the main race at Brands Hatch , the Finn finished sixth overall.
In 2010 Mäki was initially without a racing cockpit and returned to the Formula 3 Euro Series in the middle of the season . He started three race weekends for Motopark Academy and finished 17th overall at the end of the season.
