Erik Janiš (born September 23, 1987 in Olomouc ) is a Czech racing driver . He is the younger brother of the racing driver Jaroslav Janiš .

Career

Janiš began his motorsport career in karting in 1994 , where he was active until 2005. Among other things, he won the European ICC Championship in 2005. After taking part in the German Formula BMW in 2003, he switched to touring car racing in 2006 . He finished sixth in the Czech Škoda Octavia Cup and also took part in some races of the German Seat Leon Supercopa . In 2007 Janiš finally won the championship title of the Czech Škoda Octavia Cup. He also returned to formula racing and took part in some races in the international Formula Masters and the A1GP series.

In 2008 Janiš switched to the Formula 3 Euro Series for the German racing team Mücke Motorsport . While his team mates Christian Vietoris and Mika Mäki won races, he had to be satisfied with seventh places as the best results. At the end of the season he finished 21st overall, but was best rookie. In 2009 Janiš returned to the international Formula Master. As a team-mate of Alexander Rossi he started for ISR Racing . With three third places, he finished sixth overall at the end of the season. He also managed to score points in every race.
