Ingeborg Thérèse Marguerite Sergeant (born October 15, 1966 in Menen , Flanders ) is a Belgian singer , songwriter , cabaret artist and TV presenter . She usually only appears under her first name Ingeborg .

Life

Sergeant studied at the Herman Teirlinck studio in Antwerp . Together with her fellow student Myriam Bronzwaar , she founded the cabaret duo Zwiep en Brons , for which they were awarded the jury prize at the Leiden Cabaret Festival in 1988 . In the same year she brought her first single desire out. In 1989 she took part in the Belgian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , which was organized by the Flemish TV channel VRT . With the ballad Door de wind she was able to win the preliminary round: she received 64 points and was able to clearly prevail against the second-placed band Clouseau . At the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 in Lausanne she was less successful - with only 13 points she reached 19th and fourth from last place. From 1990 she worked as a presenter for the TV channel VTM , where she distributes formats such as Blind Date , All You Need is Love , De keuze van de kijker , Wondere Wereld , Ik wil je iets and Bluf! presented. From 1990 to 2006 she was also the presenter of the children's program Schuif Af! . She recorded other singles and albums and had some top 10 hits in the 90s, including the song Waarom , which reached number two on the Flemish sales charts. In addition to her Eurovision Song Contest entry, it was one of her few songs that she did not write herself. In 2002 it reached the Flemish single charts again for the first time since the mid-1990s with the title Zo Dichtbij . The single reached number 15 and stayed in the Top50 for ten weeks. Since 2007 she has been working for the television channels Vitaya and Vitaliteit. She also wrote the guide Wie ben je Eigenlijk with Roland Verschaeve .

Private

Sergeant has been married to her manager Roland Keyaert since 1997. The couple have a son (born in 1994) and have lived in Brugge since the early 1990s . Ingeborg Sergeant also works as a meditation and yoga teacher.
