Jacques Hustin

Jacques Hustin (born March 15, 1940 in Liège , Wallonia ; † April 6, 2009 ) was a Belgian singer and painter who took part in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest .

biography

Hustin originally studied painting and design, he also graduated. In the early 1960s he had minor successes as a painter. In 1965 he took part in the singing competition of spa part, which he also won. In 1966 he recorded his first album and moved to Paris , where he performed as a cabaret singer until 1968 .

In 1974 he was selected internally by the Walloon TV broadcaster BRT to represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest . In a preliminary round held under the title Six chansons avec Jacques Hustin , he presented six songs. It won the song Fleur de liberté, composed on the basis of the text by Franck F. Gérald himself . At the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 in Brighton , he received ten points and thus reached ninth place among 17 participants. In 1975 he received his own television program, La guimbarde, in Belgium, in which he introduced various musicians. In 1978 he took part in the Belgian preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with L'an 2000 c'est demain , but could not prevail against the winner Jean Vallée . Between 1976 and 1987 he was very successful as a live artist and performed in Canada, Poland, Germany, Romania, Switzerland, France and Belgium. In 1988 he decided to end his musical career and devote himself entirely to painting. For almost ten years he ran a studio in the Ardennes , which he closed in 1997. In 1999 a best-of album was released under the title En version originale, which could not place in the sales charts.
