Jacques Zegers

Jacques Zegers (born June 25, 1947 in Brussels ) is a French-speaking Belgian singer , writer , songwriter , actor and journalist .

biography

Zegers was born the son of a Belgian and a French . At the age of 16 he had his first minor successes as a cabaret singer , in the following years he took part in various international singing competitions. In 1983 he became known to a wider audience with the release of the single Pour elle . In the same year he recorded the song LA en Olympie , which was to be the official Belgian anthem for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In 1984 he took part in the Belgian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , which was organized by the Walloon TV station RTBF under the title Concours eurovision de la chanson - finale nationale . With the song Avanti la vie, for which he had written the text himself, he was able to prevail against the other nine candidates. In the competition itself in Luxembourg he came fifth out of 19 participants. In the same year he released his next single 1001 amis . He also wrote texts for children's songs by Henri Seroka.

Other activities

Zegers worked as a journalist during his musical career and continues to do the job today. In the mid-1980s he was also the advertising manager of the weekly newspapers Le marché and De markt . He also wrote various volumes of poetry and the novel Le nœud au mouchoir . From 1987 he took part in a number of theater productions, including the group Copains d'Abord .
