Frédéric Etherlinck (stage name Etherlinck ; * 1968 in Brussels ) is a Belgian singer.

biography

Etherlinck was born in Brussels , but lived with his parents in Los Angeles in the United States until 1977 . The family then moved to Nice for three years before returning to Brussels. He took lessons in singing and drums and at the beginning of his musical career played primarily in bars and cabarets. In 1995 he took part in the Belgian preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest organized by the Walloon TV station RTBF . With the title La voix est libre he competed against nine other artists and was able to prevail with 58 points and six points ahead of the second-placed singer Belinda. At the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 in Dublin he was less successful: With only eight points (one from Austria and seven from Spain ) he finished 20th out of 23 participants. His competition entry was released as a single and reached 21st place on the Walloon sales charts. The single stayed in the charts for six weeks. The album Les années lumières , released shortly afterwards, was not a success and could not place in the charts.
