Robert Cogoi

Robert Cogoi (born October 25, 1939 in Châtelet ; actually Mirko Kogoj ) is a Belgian singer .

biography

Kogoj was born in Belgium in 1939 to Yugoslav parents. In 1961 he took part in a singing competition and then got his first record deal with Philips and an engagement with RTL . In 1962 he took first place at the Grand Prix International des Variétés in the casino in Ostend . Shortly afterwards he received a gold record in France for 100,000 copies of his single Si un jour . In 1964 he was selected internally by the Walloon TV broadcaster RTB to represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest . The ballad Près de ma rivière , written by the singer himself, was chosen as a contribution. At the competition in Copenhagen he received two points (one from Monaco and one from Portugal ) and thus reached a tenth place among 16 participants. He released other singles until the late 1960s. In Canada he had minor successes with the titles L'église , Pas une place pour me garer and Je m'sens très seul . In 1976 he worked as a composer and performer in the Belgian film Les arpents dorés . After retiring from show business for many years, he made a guest appearance at the Belgian preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 .
