Riccardo Agostini

Riccardo Agostini (born April 20, 1994 in Padua ) is an Italian racing driver . In 2012 he became Italian Formula 3 champion .

Career

Agostini began his motorsport career in karting , in which he was active from 2001 to 2010. 2010 Agostini debuted also in Formula racing and went for Prema Powerteam in the Formula Abarth at the start. While his team-mate Jordi Cunill finished fourth overall, Agostini achieved eleventh place in the drivers' standings with a win. In 2011 Agostini stayed in Formula Abarth. He completed the first four race weekends for Villorba Corse and the rest of the season for JD Motorsport . Agostini's best individual placement was third. He was seventh in the Italian standings and eighth in the European standings. He also took part in a Formula Pilota China Series event with JD Motorsport . He achieved a third place.

In 2012, Agostini stayed with JD Motorsport and switched to the Italian Formula 3 championship . In contrast to the majority of the pilots, Agostini did not use a Dallara chassis, but a vehicle from Mygale . He was the only Mygale rider to contest every race. Agostini won five races and was on the podium 14 times in 24 races. With 281 to 248 points he prevailed at the end of the season against Eddie Cheever III and won the Italian Formula 3 championship. Agostini was ahead of both the European standings, which included all races, and the Italian ones, which included 18 of 24 races. As a reward for winning the Italian Formula 3 title, Agostini completed Formula 1 test drives for Ferrari in November 2012 .

In 2013 , Agostini received a contract for the Auto GP from Manor MP Motorsport . After the first half of the season he lost his cockpit. Third place was his best result. He was tenth in the drivers' championship. In 2013 , Agostini also took part in a Formula Renault 3.5 event for Zeta Corse . In 2014 Agostini started the season for EuroInternational in the European Formula 3 championship . After making the top 10 only once in the first three events, he left the series. At the end of the season he was 25th in the drivers' championship. Agostini then entered the GP3 series for Hilmer Motorsport at the second race weekend of the 2014 season . With a fifth place as the best result, he finished the season as the best Hilmer driver in 16th place overall.
