Eddie Cheever III
Edward Mackay "Eddie" Cheever III (born June 5, 1993 in Rome ) is an Italian racing driver . He started in the European Formula 3 championship in 2013 .
Career
Cheever began his motorsport career in 2006 in kart racing , in which he was active until 2009. In 2009 he also switched to formula racing and competed in two Formula Renault championships for Jenzer Motorsport . He finished eleventh in the Swiss Formula Renault, while his team-mate Nico Müller won the championship, and 14th in the Italian Formula Renault. In 2010 Cheever stayed with Jenzer Motorsport and drove in the Formula Abarth . While his teammate Patric Niederhauser was runner-up, Cheever finished the season with third place as the best result in tenth place overall.
In 2011 Cheever moved to Lucidi Motorsport in the Italian Formula 3 championship . With a second place as the best result and a total of three podium positions, he reached ninth place in the drivers' standings. 2012 Cheever denied his second season in the Italian Formula 3 championship for the Prema Powerteam . He won four races and was on the podium a total of twelve times. With 248 to 281 points he was defeated by Riccardo Agostini and finished second in the championship. As a reward for his achievements in Italian Formula 3, Cheever received a Formula 1 test drive with Scuderia Ferrari .
In 2013 Cheever stayed with Prema Powerteam and switched to the European Formula 3 championship . While his teammates Raffaele Marciello , Alex Lynn and Lucas Auer had all won at least one race and finished the championship in the top four, third place was Cheever's best result. At the end of the season he was in thirteenth place overall.
