Sergio Campana (born June 5, 1986 in Reggio nell'Emilia ) is an Italian racing driver . He became Italian Formula 3 champion in 2011 .

Career

Campana began his motorsport career in 2003 in kart racing , in which he was active until 2007. In 2007 he also made his debut in formula racing . He finished 31st in the Italian Formula Renault . He also made guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . In 2008 Campana competed in the Italian Formula Renault and the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. While he finished fifth in the Italian series with three wins, he finished the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup on the 26th championship place. Following the season he took part in the winter series of the Portuguese Formula Renault and was 15th in this series.

In 2009 Campana moved to Lucidi Motors in the Italian Formula 3 championship . He won three races and finished the championship in fourth place. Campana's second season in the Italian Formula 3 championship for Lucidi Motors followed in 2010. While his team-mate Stéphane Richelmi was runner-up, Campana finished the season with three wins in fifth place overall. In 2011 he switched to BVM - Target Racing . Campana won two races and won the championship with 149 to 136 points against Michael Lewis . As a reward for winning the title, Campana completed a Formula 1 test for Ferrari in November .

In 2012 Campana competed for the MLR71 Racing Team in the Auto GP World Series . His team boss, Michele La Rosa , was also his teammate. In the first race, he finished in second place. However, since his team made a mistake during the pit stop, he was penalized with a minute and dropped to tenth place. In Marrakech he finally won the main race. After the fifth race weekend, Campana left the MLR71 Racing Team and completed the last events for Euronova Racing and Zele Racing . With two podium finishes, he finished the season in sixth place. In 2013 Campana stayed in the Auto GP. He got a cockpit with the Ibiza Racing Team , a new racing team. Campana won the main races in Monza , Marrakech and Mugello . With a total of seven podium finishes and was third overall at the end of the season. In 2013 Campana also took part in a GP2 series event for Trident Racing .

In 2014 , Campana started for Zele Racing at the Auto GP season opener. He then switched to Formula Acceleration 1 , in which the same vehicles as the Auto GP were driven. In this series, he moved to an event for Azerti Motorsport for Team Ghinzani . With three podium finishes, he was sixth overall at the end of the season. Campana also competed for Venezuela GP Lazarus at two GP2 events. From 2015 to 2017 he switched to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo European racing series and in 2018 to the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy.
