Zele Racing

Zele Racing is an Austrian motorsport team from Bleiburg , Carinthia . It has competed in the Auto GP since 2012 .

history

Zele Racing was founded in 2001 by Hermann Zele, a former motorcycle racer, and his son Michael Zele. It competed in the World Series by Nissan in 2002 and 2003 . Third place for Norbert Siedler was Zele's best finish in the championship. In 2004 Zele took part in the first four races of the Superfund Euro Formula 3000 . Christiano Rocha achieved a podium finish with a second place. Then Zele Racing withdrew from professional motorsport and looked after private customers.

In 2012 Zele Racing returned to professional motorsport and entered the Auto GP World Series , the follow-up series to the Superfund Euro Formula 3000, with two vehicles . Zele used a total of seven drivers. Among other things, the former Formula 1 driver Antonio Pizzonia competed at an event for Zele. Two third places from Giacomo Ricci and Sergio Campana were the best placements. In the team classification, Zele Racing reached eighth and thus last place. In contrast to Zele, almost all of the other teams started with two vehicles. In 2013 , Zele Racing signed Luciano Bacheta , the reigning Formula 2 champion , and Narain Karthikeyan , who was active in Formula 1 in the preseason. In the second race in Marrakech , Bacheta scored the first Auto GP victory for Zele Racing.
