Norbert Siedler (born December 29, 1982 in Wildschönau ) is an Austrian racing driver .

Life

Norbert Siedler began his career in motorsport as a kart driver . He entered the German kart scene in 1992 at the age of ten and won the junior class 125 in 1997. In 1999 he became the Austrian state kart champion. In 2000 he switched to Formula Ford and won the championship in Germany and Austria. In 2001 he drove in the German Formula 3 championship . For the "Team Palfinger" he achieved fourth place twice, including once in the race in the supporting program for the German Grand Prix . In 2002 he finished sixth in the championship and ended the season with a win in the last race in Hockenheim . This was followed by three years in the Italian Formula 3000 championship . In 2005 he won the overall standings after two victories in eight races.

In 2003 he drove a Formula 1 test for Minardi in Vallelunga , impressed with good times, but could not get a cockpit for a race due to a lack of sponsorship money. In 2006 he switched to sports cars, he drove for Kruse Motorsport in the Le Mans Series . First success in the 2007 season : a fifth place in the 1000 kilometer race in Monza . His first start at the Le Mans 24-hour race , again for Kruse Motorsport on a Pescarolo- Judd , ended with a retirement due to engine failure after 98 laps.

In the middle of the 2007 season, a new field of activity was added for Siedler. "ADM Motorsport" hired him to compete in the new International Formula Master racing series , a monoposto junior series for the German racing team. In this racing series, similar to series such as the GP2 series , vehicles of the same construction are used. Siedler thanked him for the new contract with victories in Porto and Anderstorp , but was unable to build on his results with two podiums in the following year.

Norbert Siedler was also involved in the Porsche Supercup in 2008 and in 2009 concentrated entirely on the championship, which he finished in fifth place overall with two podium finishes. From 2010 to 2012 Siedler also drove in this racing series and took 3rd place ( 2010 ), 2nd ( 2011 ) and 4th ( 2012 ) with a total of three race wins .

He has been active in the Blancpain GT Series since 2017 .
