Roberto Colciago (born April 4, 1968 in Saronno ) is an Italian racing driver .

He won the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 1990 , the Swedish Touring Car Championship in 2001 and 2002 and the Italian Super Touring Car Championship in 2006 and 2016.

Racing career

Roberto Colciago began his motorsport career in karting and achieved third place in the Junior World Championship in 1984.

He then switched to formula racing for Team RC Motorsport and drove in the Italian Formula 3 Championship from 1987 to 1990, 1992 and 1994. There he won the championship title in a Reynard 903 in 1990 . In 1992 he was able to secure third place in the championship with a Dallara 392 .

In 1993 and 1994 he started in the German Formula 3 Championship , where he achieved his best result in 1993 with fifth place. Colciago drove a season with a Reynard 91D in the International Formula 3000 Championship in 1991 without success .

With the 1995 season he got into touring car racing and drove for RC Motorsport with an Opel Vectra GT in the Italian super touring car championship. In parallel, he competed in two races of the FIA - World Touring Car World Cup . The following year he took part in the Spanish Touring Car Championship for the Opel Team Ibérico with an Opel Vectra 16V and finished in tenth place.

In the Italian Super Touring Car Championship he competed for Team EC Motorsport in 1996 and 1997 and a year later for BMW Italia . In 1999 he achieved third place in the championship with an Audi A4 Quattro from AGS Motorsport . In 2006 he started again in the Italian super touring car championship and was TFSI champion on a Seat Leon . Ten years later Colciago was able to repeat it with a Honda Civic Type-R TCR and secure the championship title in 2016.

From 2000 to 2002 he drove in the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC). There he won the championship in 2001 and 2001 for the Kristoffersson Motorsport team in an Audi A4 Quattro. At the same time, he competed in the European Super Touring Cup (Euro-STC-Cup) in 2000 and in the following European Touring Car Championship (FIA ETCC) from 2001 to 2003 . His best result in the championship was sixth in 2001 and 2003.

From 2005 to 2007 he competed in the FIA World Touring Car Championship . In the 2008 to 2010 season he drove as a works driver for Seat Sport Italia with a Seat Leon TFSI in the Italian Endurance Touring Car Championship. In 2008 he finished second and in 2009 he won the championship.

In 2016 and 2017 he competed in the TCR International Series with a Honda Civic Type-R TCR and achieved his best result with 5th place in 2017.
