Ulrich Straeter
Ulrich Straeter (born July 26, 1941 in Dortmund-Berghofen ) is a German author , editor and publisher . Straeter became known as a writer through his travelogues.
Life
Straeter worked in the federal finance administration before he began studying German , history and education at the University of Essen in 1981 at the age of 40 . In 1986 he passed the state examination. During his studies, he worked regularly as a journalist with the monthly magazine sites with which the publisher plain text appeared food. At the same time he wrote articles and reviews for newspapers and magazines. The first fiction texts appeared in anthologies by Rowohlt and in Fischer-Taschenbuch Verlag.
From 1978 to 1996 Straeter was a member of the Dortmund workshop of the work group literature in the world of work . In 1981 he started an active (environmental) policy at the local level. After a year as a trainee teacher in the school service, he switched to the cultural sector as an organizer ( ARKA culture workshop as part of the IBA Emscherpark project and the later world cultural heritage Zeche Zollverein in Essen) and developed into a writer.
In 1992, together with Gerhard Straeter Abbenhaus of the ARKA Kulturwerkstatt the Arka Publishing , which he took alone 1994th In 1993 Straeter founded the group ZORMM, Wort, Töne, Bilder with his wife Ilse Straeter and some friends . The group organizes literary events that are complemented by music, visual arts and dance. He lives in Essen .
