Use Straeter
Ilse Straeter (born September 28, 1947 in Bottrop ) is a German painter and graphic artist . She lives in Essen .
Life
Straeter completed a degree in graphic design (advertising graphics) at the Folkwang School of Design in Essen , which she completed in 1970. She then worked for 16 years in an advertising agency in Essen as a graphic designer, most recently as a studio manager and authorized signatory. In 1969 she married the author Ulrich Straeter , whose travel books she provided with illustrations.
From 1978 to 1996 she was a member of the work group literature and graphics in the world of work . As a graphics officer, she worked for the Werkkreis nationwide for several years with Gaby Röhrer (Berlin). She also designed numerous cover graphics for the work group for the book series at Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag and created illustrations for the ten-year page of the Dortmund workshop of the work group in the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung .
From 1988 she began with exhibitions at home and abroad, which she took from the Ruhr area (Zeche Zollverein, Ballettzentrum Westfalen Dortmund etc.) to cities in North Rhine-Westphalia (tanzhaus nrw düsseldorf, Städtische Bühnen Münster, Kunstmuseum Soest, Quadrat Bottrop etc.) to the North Sea island Juist, Holland and the South of France.
The high point of her work is the creation of a five-part sculpture with life-size dancers made of stainless steel, who can turn in the wind. This work of art was set up as a local hero project as part of the RUHR.2010 - European Capital of Culture at the Ruhr Bridge in Essen-Werden, within sight of the Folkwang School, which it claims to be the "cradle of expressive dance".
