Harald Schlegelmilch (actually: Latvian Haralds Šlēgelmilhs ; born December 6, 1987 in Riga ) is a Latvian racing car driver .

Career

In 1997 Schlegelmilch began his motorsport career in kart racing , in which he was active until 2003. In 2003 he also made his debut in formula racing . With a podium finish he achieved sixth place in the Baltic Formula. In 2004 Schlegelmilch won the Lista Formula Masters overall with eight wins from fourteen races . In addition, he entered the Scandinavian Formula Renault , where he reached fifth championship rank.

In 2005 Schlegelmilch switched to the German Formula BMW at AM-Holzer Rennsport . He was 25th in the drivers' championship with a point. Schlegelmilch was more successful in the Austrian Formula 3 championship , where he started third overall for HS Technik Motorsport . He also took part in four German Formula 3 races for HS Technik Motorsport . In 2006 Schlegelmilch stayed with HS Technik Motorsport. He finished third in German Formula 3 and won the series-internal trophy classification, which served as the second class of the series. In addition, he became champion of the Austrian Formula 3. In 2007 Schlegelmilch switched to the Formula 3 Euro Series and started again for HS Technik Motorsport. He won a race and was 14th overall.

In 2008 Schlegelmilch started for Trident Racing in the newly founded GP2 Asia series . With a fifth place as the best result, he reached 18th place in the overall classification. He then joined Trident Racing in the international Formula Masters in 2008 . There he was fourth overall with a win. In 2009 Schlegelmilch was without a permanent racing cockpit. He started the season with Conquest Racing in the North American Atlantic Championship , where he competed in a race that he finished in fourth place. Then he took for Comtec Racing on the first race weekend of the Formula Renault 3.5 part. He then started for two different teams on the first two race weekends of the 2009 international Formula Master season , but also left this series after the two events. Finally he returned to HS Technik Motorsport in the German Formula 3 in the middle of the year and achieved ninth place with three podium finishes.

In 2010 Schlegelmilch was again without a permanent cockpit. He took part in six races of the German Porsche Carrera Cup for Konrad Motorsport , making his debut in GT racing. After a one-year break, Schlegelmilch competed in an FIA Formula 2 Championship event in 2012 . He finished both races in the points.

After Schlegelmilch was not active in any championship in 2013, he took part in an ADAC GT Masters event in 2014 . He achieved a podium placement. In 2015 Schlegelmilch joined ArtLine Engineering . He starts for the racing team in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo . He was also involved in the development of the ArtTech P315 Formula 3 chassis , which he made debut in the European Formula 3 championship as a guest driver.

Personal

Schlegelmilch is not related to the German photo reporter Rainer W. Schlegelmilch , who has captured Formula 1 and other racing series in pictures since the 1960s, but is the son of Vladislavs Šlēgelmilhs (also known as Vladislav Schlegelmilch), a former racing and rallycross driver and current operator of the Sporta Komplekss 333 racetrack in the Latvian municipality of Ropaži .
