Sergio Hernández
Sergio Hernández von Reckowski (born December 6, 1983 in Xàbia ) is a Spanish racing driver .
Career
In 1998, Hernández began his career in karting and in 2001 switched to formula racing . He started in the Iberian Formula BMW and finished eighth in the overall standings. In 2002 the Spaniard took part in the Spanish Formula 3 for Azteca Motorsport and finished ninth in the overall standings. The following year he stayed with Azteca Motorsport in Spanish Formula 3 and improved to seventh place overall. He also drove a few races in the World Series Light and the B-box of British Formula 3, in which he finished eighth in the overall standings. In 2004, Hernández moved to Campos Grand Prix and started again in Spanish Formula 3. In the third attempt, he secured sixth place in the overall standings. In addition, he drove half a season in the World Series by Nissan and finished 15th in the overall standings for Saulnier Racing.
In 2005 , Hernández switched to the newly founded GP2 series . As in Formula 3, he drove for the Campos Grand Prix and achieved 20th place in the overall standings with three points. In 2006 , Hernández stayed in the GP2 series and moved to Durango . At the end of the season he finished 23rd in the overall ranking. As in the previous year, he scored three points. In 2007 , Hernández started for Trident Racing only on the last weekend of the season of the GP2 series.
This year , Hernández was active for Proteam Motorsport in the WTCC and was 20th overall. He also drove half a season in the GT2 class of the Le Mans Series . In 2008 , Hernández stayed in the WTCC with Proteam Motorsport. At the end of the season, Hernández finished sixteenth in the overall standings with nine points. He also won the so-called Independents' Trophy . In 2009 he started for the BMW Team Italy-Spain and finished 11th overall. After his teammate Alessandro Zanardi had won the first race, he was able to win the second race in Brno . Since BMW Team Italy-Spain no longer competes in the 2010 season , Hernández changes back to Proteam Motorsport. His teammate becomes Stefano d'Aste .
